3 drawings from San Polo

It's been a bit longer than a week, but it's been hard to get decent shots of these images. I'm posting three drawings I did of the room I was living in on the farm.  They're in colored pencil and perm. marker. There first two are finished, but I'm still working on the third one. (I thought it might be helpful to post one that isn't finished.) I also have to start/finish a few more. Ciao!

i really enojy the two chairs and a table. the light is quite beautiful. something about the stark black chairs is entrancing. The first one is nice too. I like that the door looks like its broken or kicked. Maybe it would add if somewhere in the back near the staircase something was a bit off about it.

Hey pretty. So I am surprised to see the one with the two black chairs, because it's not as trippy as your interiors usually are. like they look kind of like a study. It's so interesting to see this one next to your other pieces. it's like a little break...like they're refreshing, and you want to go to them, but the floor is all messed up. it looks like you couldn't walk on it without falling. one time i had this dream that i was standing on SUPER MAD WICKED slippery ice, and i couldn't even stand without falling, and every time i tried to walk it was a disaster. that's kind of what your chairs remind me of. it might be a cool idea to see like a careful study like this incorporated into a drawing or painting. it might make the piece even trippier as a whole because you have that element of normality.

would you mind telling why you chose colored pencil? I always think of the medium as a very controlled, careful one, and your stuff usually seems out of that realm. except for on the two black chairs piece. just wondering!

in "view from the bathroom," i like how the double stairs draw you from one doorway to the next. it's like your journey into the piece never ends. in "view from the stairs," however, i think the extremity of the perspective stops you just a little bit. I don't get the same "drawn-in" effect because the wall above the door frame kind of halts the motion into the piece. However, i think if there were something to draw you in (the purple table kind of acts like that, but to me, it doesn't quite seem interesting/come-hithery enough), the play between the halting perspective and the thing you desperately want to go see could be really strong.

Or you could make it a little more obvious that you are looking from those intriguing stairs in the earlier one.

anyways, keep up the good work, i miss you so much and i can't wait to see you (whenever that is!!)
